Day three of the Power Source tournament was headlined by two inter-faction matches…In the main event; it was the BLACKHEART’s captain Akuma Toyota against the man he personally recruited, the brash and talented Keiji Hirano. Both men were hated by the fans, but Keiji Hirano played the underdog so well in the match that the fans began to rally behind him at the end…Akuma Toyota’s power and savagery was a problem for Hirano the entire match, but when Hirano could get on offense, Toyota had a hard time dealing with Hirano’s swiftness. Hirano’s talent for cheating emerged in the match as he nailed his captain in the groin while the referee wasn’t looking, which earned a surprisingly favorable reaction from the crowd. Hirano attempted to capitalize with a Moonsault Press…but amazingly, Toyota completely ignored the affects of the low blow, and nailed Hirano from behind, dropping Hirano on the turnbuckle and in perfect position for the Toyota’s rarely used Sky High Suplex, as Toyota flung Hirano backwards with all his strength and onto Hirano’s neck, KO’ing Hirano for the Toyota victory! Backstage, Toyota gave the comment that he knew Hirano would resort to that tactic due to being a “inferior” wrestler, and had been prepared for it…This caused a huge shoving match in the back as Hirano objected to Toyota’s comments…however, Toyota grabbed Hirano by his hair and reminded him that the BLACKHEARTS weren’t a democracy, and that HE was the second in charge, before shoving Hirano backwards and telling him to “fall in line”.
It was a more civil match in the semi final as the senpai took on the kouhai, as Toshiro Noguchi took on the young power fighter Takayuki Ariwa in singles action. The match boiled down to one question: What is stronger, The Thunder Hammer or the Angelos? Both men kept clashing into each other with their signature arm attacks, but neither would fall from the other’s attack…It was Ariwa’s youthful inexperience that caused his downfall, as he attempted a wild swing with his Angelos, but left himself wide open and with too much momentum, causing Noguchi to nearly BEHEAD Ariwa with the Thunder Hammer for the three count fall. After the match, Ariwa commented that this tournament was a learning experience, and that in every match he had learned something about himself…Noguchi praised his young friend, but said that he had to level up himself or risk being passed by the younger wrestlers in CRIMSON…
Hiroyuki Takano’s progress in the Power Source that had gone so well thus far ran into a brick wall. A brick wall called: Izumo Yoritomo. The former sumo that has yet to win a tournament match was especially brutal against Takano, whose high energy style was almost useless against the massive armor of Yoritomo. At times, it almost looked like it was an Elephant against a Fly, as Takano tried desperately to damage his foe…Yoritomo’s previous losses were from trickery, and a cradle, but he didn’t leave himself open to anything tonight, before CRUSHING Takano with a sickening one handed Nodowa-otoshi, then lifted him and planted him with the Sea Typhoon Ozeki, crushing Takano with all his weight for the three count. Takano had very few comments post-match, and could only say that Yoritomo’s power was “awesome” and that he had no counter for it…Yoritomo was more outgoing, and praised Takano’s courage but said that after day one and day two, that he was on a mission to make the semi finals, and couldn’t afford to lose one more match in the tournament…
Tatsumichi Akamatsu’s young protégé Rui Kuriyama took on the returning Seiji Ebisawa in a Power Source match…Kuriyama tried his best to match Ebisawa, but it just wasn’t there, as Ebisawa easily controlled the match, and put Kuriyama out of his misery with an Exploder suplex for the three count…After the match, Ebisawa held up one finger. In the back, Ebisawa explained the finger…as he’s going to keep a tally of which BLACKHEART members he’s defeated…Ebisawa said he plans to beat every single member of the BLACKHEARTS one by one including Tatsumichi Akamatsu and prove who the strongest really is. Kuriyama refused to give comments after being completely manhandled
The growth of Kenjiro Amagawa continues to be amazing to watch. Amagawa has suddenly emerged as a potentially deadly opponent to face, and Eisaku Shimura proved an excellent example of why opponents should be afraid of Amagawa. Amagawa’s usual Backdrop Brother’s style was modified once again, as Amagawa used his intelligence to pick apart Shimura, who like Ariwa previously, tried all match to land that one “kill blow” but Amagawa refused to let him land it…Amagawa targeted Shimura’s left leg, and tormented it the entire match with attacks and even Dragon Screws, showing off diversity in his moveset, before locking Shimura in the Figure Four and forcing the “Tank” to give up the fight. Amagawa stated that he was “evolving” in this tournament, and this would be the breakout year for the Backdrop Brothers.
In the first match of the night, it was Mikio Tsuruya’s first victory of the tournament, as he took on the young Shuji Kawashima…Kawashima might should have not been put in the tournament, as he clearly is several steps behind everyone else. Despite this, Kawashima used his natural gifts to give Tsuruya fits for several minutes, but eventually the loveable pudgy Backdrop Brother caught Kawashima and dumped him on his head with the Akuji Backdrop Driver for the three points. Tsuruya was visibly exhausted after chasing Kawashima the entire match and had trouble speaking, but said that he was trying his best and still planned to win the tournament!
