Profile:
Mikio Tsuruya participated in rugby during high school, though was unsuccessful due to his slow speed and general awkwardness. Pursued wrestling after graduation and was trained by KANJI Sakaigama and "CRIMSON" Jin Hiroto in the Visual Spirit Dojo, before graduating for Sakaigama Puroresu Gumi. Tsuruya would wrestle only a handful of matches for Sakaigumi Puroresu Gumi and upstart independent group Victory Japan Pro-Wrestling, before eventually wandering the lesser known independent groups. In early 2007, Tsuruya joined Pro-Wrestling ZION at the request of high school friend, Kenjiro Amagawa. As they were younger, both men dreamed of becoming pro-wrestlers together and forming a popular tag team. However, after the two graduated, life took them in opposite directions, as Amagawa pursued a University degree, while Mikio immediately pursued his dream after graduation. With the closing of ZION, Tsuruya has followed his former high school friend to Pro-Wrestling CRIMSON to form the Backdrop Brothers. Amagawa and Tsuruya have had some success together as a team, including a challenge for the C-1 Tag Team Championships, but they were unsuccessful. Their second attempt paid off, as the Backdrop Brothers defeated Shimizu and Noguchi to take the championships...their reign was short lived, by just six days when Akuma Toyota and Goro Iijima crushed them for the titles. After Kenjiro Amagawa's "Weight Loss Challenge" began, Tsuruya's frustration at always being "behind" Amagawa boiled over, leading to him attacking Amagawa, and destroying the Backdrop Brothers. Tsuruya would immediately join Yankizoku, and has dedicated himself to living life the way he wants. Tsuruya made the semi finals of the 2009 Power Source tournament but fell to Pro-Wrestling FURY's Tetsuhisa NAKAI. In August, Tsuruya attacked Akuma Toyota twice, leading to Tsuruya putting the C-1 Heavyweight Champion on the shelf, while stealing the C-1 Heavyweight Championship. Tsuruya re branded it the "Tsuruya-One Heavyweight Championship", or "T-1" and became an unofficial champion. Tsuruya failed in his bid to win the real C-1 Heavyweight Championship ending the "T-1" charade, and has since continued to align himself with Hiroyuki Takano as the VANGUARD team, now in Takano's KYOURUI 6 faction. When VANGUARD failed to capture the C-1 Tag Team Championships, Tsuruya turned to the "mad man" of KYOURUI 6, Akahito Yamada and the two were able to finally dethrone Tsuruya's old best friend Amagawa and his partner Takahashi.
