[CRIMSON] 2008 Year End Awards

Pro-Wrestling CRIMSON released the 2008 year end awards. The cut off date for consideration was in the first week of December, which cut out the Toyota/Shimizu match from 12/24 from consideration, despite it being called the best bout of the year for Pro-Wrestling CRIMSON. Due to cost control measures, no party was held to celebrate the awards. Instead, Nomura was said to have given each wrestler their award personally, and given them a gift card to a local ramen shop for a free dinner...

The main issue throughout the year was the BLACKHEARTS and their attempts to rule Pro-Wrestling CRIMSON. Unsurprisingly, they were given the "Best Unit" award, and the “Topic” Award, however they share that honor with Yankizoku, whose formation and rise coincided with the fall of the BLACKHEARTS.

“Best Bout” was also won by Tatsumichi Akamatsu and Yuki Nomura from February 4th, at the Miyako 1000 Tokuji Gymnasium. The event was broadcast throughout Japan on Sky PerfecTV! and many fans have stated that they were "personally touched" by the display of courage Yuki Nomura displayed in the match.

Naoki Daishi racked up two awards. Alongside Akahito Yamada, as OVERTHROW, they were the only stable team in Pro-Wrestling CRIMSON throughout, and were given the “Best Tag Team” award despite not winning any major championships...Daishi also won the “Technique” Award, due to his always excellent use of basic pro-wrestling and submission abilities.

“Burning Spirit” was awarded to Nobuyori Shimizu. Despite his injuries, and without even taking into account his epic match with Akuma Toyota, Nobuyori Shimizu has never given up in a match, and always fights through no matter what. He has reached a new level of his career, and has been rewarded for his constant effort.

“Outstanding Performance” was awarded to C-1 Junior-Heavyweight Champion Hayato Saigo. It's hard to argue with Saigo's accomplishments. Winning the C-1 Jr title in April, Saigo has racked up eight defenses of the championship, and has cemented himself in the list of truly great champions in the history of the Junior division in pro-wrestling. At only twenty four years of age, Saigo's entire career lays in front of him.

The “MVP” award had several viable contenders. However, one name stood out among the rest for his accomplishments over the year, and as such, current C-1 Heavyweight Champion Akuma Toyota was given the honor. Toyota won the C-1 Tag Team Championships twice, Finished second in the Power Source, Only dropped a few scant falls the entire year, and capped it all off by winning the C-1 Heavyweight Championship, becoming the first Ryo Suzuki graduate to do so. Even with the list of other worthy wrestlers such as Tatsumichi Akamatsu and Seiji Ebisawa, Akuma Toyota's overall strength throughout the year wins him the award.
