The title of STRONGEST-J was decided in the main event of Pro-Wrestling CRIMSON’s sold out show at Niigata Phase today on the 20th. C-1 Junior-Heavyweight Champion Akahito Yamada and top contender Hayato Saigo clashed in yet another singles match. The two last clashed in the junior league in January with Yamada scoring the victory. Both men looked to either change the bit of history, or continue it’s significance. The crowd at Niigata Phase was split, but the crowd quickly rallied behind Saigo after Yamada began to fight dirty with a cheap shot off a break on the ropes. Yamada controlled the early portions of the match with his ground based skills keeping Saigo limited from using his acrobatic skills that previously won him the C-1 Junior-Heavyweight Championship. Yamada kept trying for his Crossface of Yamada, but Saigo continually avoided the hold to keep himself in the match. After the ten minute mark, Saigo rallied from Yamada’s abuse and the match broke out into a complete sprint, with Saigo flying all over the ring while Yamada tried desperately to get his Straight Jacket Suplex Hold…which he finally did at the 18 minute mark! However, Saigo managed to kick out to keep the match alive! Yamada attempted a missle kick, but Saigo avoided the move before dropping Yamada with a Backbreaker and went up top for a Moonsault Press! Yamada recovered and blocked the move from behind, before climbing up to the top himself, putting both men on the top rope! The two men jostled for position, and Yamada seemed to be setting up for a Powerbomb off the top rope, however, Saigo managed to get away from the hold…Saigo then landed several BRUTAL shots to Yamada’s head before hooking him…and dropping him VERTICALLY on his head with an Avalanche Brainbuster! Saigo slowly covered, and after 21 minutes of fighting, Hayato Saigo regained the C-1 Junior-Heavyweight Championship one year after winning it the first time!
The crowd got to their feet cheering the two men’s efforts as OVERTHROW and Murata hit the ring to check on their friends…After some tense moments, Akahito Yamada shook Hayato Saigo’s hand and left without incident…However, the same couldn’t be said for former C-1 Junior-Heavyweight Champion Naoki Daishi who asked for a title shot! Hayato Saigo immediately agreed and a rematch of their 7/27 clash from last year was set up! Saigo took a microphone and thanked everyone for believing in him, and said that with this title reign, he would prove that he had matured into truly the Strongest-J in all of Japan!
The final heat up for the PWC Jr. Tag Championship match between MILLENNIUM STARS and CHAOTICS took place in the semi final of the night, as Millennium S.K. led his assassin, SLAYER into battle against the two men who would face S.K. and Inoue in just a few days for the championships, ATSUKA and YAKUTA from Pro-Wrestling FURY! The match was chaotic, with S.K. seeming to refuse to get into the match, allowing SLAYER to handle both ATSUKA & YAKUTA. Despite SLAYER’s immense power, ATSUKA and YAKUTA were able to overcome the masked man, but they couldn’t keep SLAYER down, no matter what they did to him, but they had SLAYER on the ropes finally…All hell suddenly broke loose as Ryoma Inoue suddenly hit the ring and provided a distraction…In the confusion, S.K. tagged in, and SLAYER tackled YAKUTA out of the ring…ATSUKA turned around from the distraction right into what can only be described as a “field goal” to ATSUKA’s testicular region, followed by the Millennium Driver for the three count fall! ATSUKA held his groin as S.K. taunted him. ATSUKA and YAKUTA attempted to continue the fight, but the MILLENNIUM STARS left the ring area as quick as they could to savor their victory…
It wasn’t all golden for MILLENNIUM STARS, however, as the other half of the PWC Jr. Tag Champions in Ryoma Inoue took on Hiroshi Kuroki in singles action in the sixth match of the night. Inoue has matured into a fantastic tag wrestler, but his skills are still lacking in singles competition. Inoue’s inability to tag out eventually led to Kuroki catching him with the PRISM for the three count in an upset! Inoue, however, did not let this slide as he followed a tactic his mentor would use, as he punted Kuroki in the groin out of sheer spite for losing, and then proceeded to strut to the backstage area…
The fifth match of the night saw the full squad of NGI take on, and defeat the BLACKHEARTS! It would be a heated, and hatefilled match heading towards NGI’s C-1 Tag Team Championship defense, but it would come down to the secondary characters in this drama, as Takayuki Ariwa nailed Rui Kuriyama with the Angelos for the three count fall…Before the match, and after, Akuma Toyota took a microphone and hurled MURDEROUS comments at both NGI AND Stephen Priest, and promised that he would crush NGI on the 27th ,and would crush Stephen Priest whenever that “coward” decided to show his face in CRIMSON again!
