The second day of the 2007 FUSION J-League took place today at the hallowed home of Pro-Wrestling CRIMSON, the Miyako 1000 Tokuji Gymnasium! The tournament matches began when MILLENNIUM STARS consisting of Millennium S.K. and Ryoma Inoue clashed against the Kamikaze Barons from BURNING PARADISE! The match was fast paced, with the Barons attempting to control their opponents, but the skill level difference between the two teams became evident, as the MILLENNIUM STARS pulled ahead slowly. However, the Barons suddenly changed tactics, as Takahashi grabbed S.K. with a claw to the face, and pulled him to the floor! The fans began to boo as Takahashi made no effort to release the hold as the count began! Inoue attempted to help his mentor, but Watanabe tackled him and applied a stomach claw, keeping Mr. LSD from getting involved! The fans booed the Barons for their actions, but were as helpless as Millennium S.K. as Fritz Takahashi DELIBERATELY held him on the floor for the double ring out! Right after the result, the Barons ran off cackling, while S.K. threw a temper tantrum in the middle of the ring due to being out smarted by their opponents! Backstage, the Barons cackled before saying that their entire goal was to cause as much disorder and chaos as possible with ring outs and draws, robbing teams of points! Millennium S.K. was still irate during his interview, calling the Baron’s a variety of names until Inoue calmed him down.
Superstar PRO’s young tag team of Saru Ito and SAKA Ibuchi got a first hand taste of the top of CRIMSON’s juniors as they took on the C-1 Jr. Heavyweight Champion Naoki Daishi, and his teammate Akahito Yamada! The SPRO team was woefully over matched against two of the top juniors in CRIMSON, but they never the less held on as well as they could against their opponent’s overwhelming strengths. Every time the SPRO team tried any serious offensive moves, OVERTHROW were able to take back control of the match easily using their experience again their younger opponents. However, holding on just meant that the beating would take longer, as Daishi finally scored with his championship winning Northern Lights Bomb on Ibuchi for the three count! In the back, The SPRO team commented on the strength of OVERTHROW, but promised to do better. Daishi and Yamada confidently declared that they would march to the finals and take the tag team championships!
Hayato Saigo and Keoni Murata, the “top two” juniors of CRIMSON were in the third tournament match making their tournament debut against the Pro-Wrestling HERO representative team of Minoru Nikaido and Wes Climer! The HERO team showed off some skills early on in the match as they waylaid Saigo and Murata from behind, and took control of the match. However, it wasn’t to last very long as the overpowering strength of Saigo and Murata became evident as they took the fight directly to the HERO team. The HERO team nearly won the match at one point, as Nikaido was able to catch Saigo in his Evangelion hold, but the former C-1 Jr. Heavyweight Champion was able to eventually escape. The closing stretch of the match was impressive just due to how much abuse Wes Climer could survive, as he ate a Backdrop Suplex from Murata, followed by the Great Wave Bodypress, yet still managed to kick out! He survived several more moves, but the Brainbuster from Saigo was too much for Climer to take, and was pinned by the two leaders of CRIMSON’s junior division! Backstage, Nikaido and Climer both expressed regret for their showing, while Saigo & Murata praised the HERO team, but said that it was too soon for them to be at their level…
The final tournament match of the night saw two outsider teams main event, as from FREEDOM, the IFS Tag Champions of Shino Hiriyama and Kazuhiro Okamura took on Pro-Wrestling FURY’s “OKINAWA SPEED STARS” team of Kotaro Ota and Fumihiko Shirai in a fast paced, back and forth contest. The fans, initially unsure of which team to support eventually began to cheer on the OKINAWA SPEED STARS, and heavily boo the FREEDOM team as the match wore on. The bulk of the match was Hiriyama and Okamura doing everything in their power to keep the SPEED STARS from using their speed and flying abilities to their advantage. Hiriyama used his technical skills, while Okamura simply assaulted their two opponents. However, once the OKINAWA SPEED STARS were able to get some momentum going, they wowed the fans with their fast exchanges and double team maneuvers to take the fight out of their tag team champion opponents. Shirai was able to land the Okinawa Driller on Hiriyama, but the IFS Tag Champion was able to kick out! Shirai attempted the Watermelon Seed, but Hiriyama was able to get his knees up, sending Shirai crushing into them! Hiriyama tagged out to Okamura, who proceeded to kick Shirai in the head as hard as humanly possible with a sliding dropkick before lifting him and nailing him with the KO Cutter! Ota ran into the ring, but Hiriyama grabbed him before he could reach Shirai and dumped him vertically on his head with a release Picture Perfect German Suplex! However, Shirai managed to kick out of the KO Cutter, which received a large response from the fans! Okamura tagged back out to Hiriyama, before hitting a SECOND KO Cutter on Shirai! Hiriyama followed it up by climbing to the top rope, and diving off with the GLITTERING GOLD! Hiriyama covered, and Okamura was able to hold back Ota for the three count! The fans gave the two young FURY wrestlers a large round of applause…which was broken up when Hiriyama and Okamura cowardly attacked from behind! Their attempt at a post-match attack was broken up quickly when Naoki Daishi & Akahito Yamada both hit the ring, sending the IFS Tag Team Champions running! Backstage, Hiriyama and Okamura called the tournament “boring”, saying that none of the teams were a challenge…On the other hand, the OKINAWA SPEED STARS said that Okamura & Hiriyama had been stronger today, but their post-match actions had relit their desire to win this tournament, and they would give it everything they had from here on out!
The full power of Rouzeki-GUN was on display in the second match of the night as Goro Iijima, Aku Toyota, Tenshin Komatsu, Makoto Saito, and the newest recruit Daisuke Yamazaki teamed up to take on the team of Yuki Nomura, Toshiro Noguchi, Kenjiro Amagawa, Mikio Tsuruya & Rui Kuriyama! Yamazaki and Kuriyama sported two totally different appearances and styles in the match. Yamazaki came out with his hair slicked back, and in a long coat while Kuriyama was the traditional young wrestler in short black trunks…The match itself was confused fighting from the opening bell, as the pure hatred between all the sides became evident very quickly. Yamazaki and Kuriyama spent most of the match taking abuse from their opponents, and In the short exchange they had against each other they looked to be almost on the same level of skill. However, it was Kuriyama on this day who was the unlucky one, as he got trapped in the ring with one half of the C-1 Tag Team Champions, Tenshin Komatsu, who BRUTALIZED Kuriyama with hard kicks, before nailing him with the Komatsu Knee Kick for the win! After the match, there was a dueling microphone appeal, as Komatsu angrily asked why Nomura was teaming with Rui Kuriyama so much on this tour, before DEMANDING to know why Nomura had agreed to be Kuriyama’s mentor! Nomura responded that he hadn’t agreed to do anything, but Komatsu wouldn’t hear it, instead calling Nomura a liar. Komatsu said that Nomura had refused to take him under his wing, as Nomura told him that he would never have a student…Komatsu then declared that if Kuriyama was Nomura’s “student”, he would CRUSH Kuriyama in revenge for Nomura’s refusal from years ago. Nomura then calmly told Komatsu that if he took their vendetta out on Kuriyama, that he would create an issue between them that Komatsu was unprepared for! Komatsu wouldn’t hear it, and tossed down his microphone, but not before promising to end Kuriyama’s career before it had even begun for Nomura’s insult, and ended by calling Kuriyama “Nomura’s boy”! Nomura went over to a confused Kuriyama, who looked completely dumbfounded by this turn of events, and the two walked out together.
The opening match was a mish-mash of different groups, and weight classes as Takayuki Ariwa, Natsuo Sakoda, Royama the Brave & DRAGON Takagi took on and defeated the team of Izumo Yoritomo, Keiji Hirano, “Texas Outlaw” Jake Bishop and Sojiro Sayuki. Despite the obvious strength of the other side, Yoritomo and Bishop had issues teaming together from the opening bell, which devolved into a scuffle that left Sayuki completely undefended, allowing Ariwa to spike him with the Hammerfall for the upset victory as Ariwa gains more momentum leading into his trek into foreign lands for FREEDOM’s upcoming tournament!
