The first fight of the C-1 J-League of 2008 saw the BLACKHEARTS suffer a rare loss in the main event. Akuma Toyota, Keiji Hirano, and “Texas Outlaw” Jake Bishop took on the combined team of C-1 Heavyweight Champion Yuki Nomura along with NGI’s Nobuyori Shimizu and Izumo Yoritomo. It was a violent match with the BLACKHEARTS using all their tactics to try to win the match, however, it was Keiji Hirano who was sent back to earth after his recent success as Nobuyori Shimizu was able to land his Tsuyosa German Suplex for the pinfall victory over the Winter SOLTICE Cup winner!
The C-1 J-League began with Natsuo Sakoda taking on and defeating Ichiyo Tatsuko in a fast paced, but one-sided match up. Sakoda proved to be one step ahead of Tatsuko the entire match in route to spiking Tatsuko on the back of his head with a Tiger Suplex Hold for the win.
OVERTHROW’s Sojiro Sayuki tried to rise to the occasion against one of the CRIMSON’s top juniors, Millennium S.K. in the second tournament match of the night, but the difference in their relative strength was obvious from the start. After a spirited fight, S.K. was able to dump Sayuki on his head with the Millennium Driver for the pinfall victory.
Out of all the lower ranked wrestlers, MUSHASHI Tomizaki may be the most over-reaching of them all, as he took on Keoni Murata. While the result was never really in doubt, Tomizaki would not stay down no matter what Murata threw at him. Finally, Murata was able to down Tomizaki with a Backdrop Hold after over thirteen minutes of fighting!
The main event pitted the second of the MILLENNIUM STARS versus OVERTHROW matches as SLAYER took on Akahito Yamada. The other two members of each team were at ringside from the start, and it was a wild affair as S.K. and Inoue attempted frequent interference. In the ring, Yamada was able to keep up with SLAYER’s brutal intensity, and seemed to have the match almost won with his Straight Jacket Suplex Hold, but S.K. reached into the ring and grabbed Yamada’s leg to break up the pinfall! This led to Daishi and Sayuki charging across the ring and fighting with S.K. and Inoue! The four man battle eventually made it’s way into the ring, leaving the referee no choice but to throw the match out, causing a no-contest! This left a bitter taste in the fan’s mouths, as they bitterly booed this decision, but the six men kept brawling until help arrived from the back to break up the fray.
Rouzeki-GUN found themselves in the second match of the night as the entire team plus Ryoma Inoue took on the combined team of Toshiro Noguchi, Kenjiro Amagawa, Mikio Tsuruya, Takayuki Ariwa & Royama the Brave…Both teams went back and forth on offense with neither being able to get the significant advantage of the other. However, Rouzeki-GUN was able to turn the match into a huge brawl, which led to Komatsu hitting Royama with the Komatsu Knee Kick for the pinfall victory.
The opening match saw a singles open weight match between C-1 Junior-Heavyweight Champion and the massive DRAGON Takagi. Despite the insane size difference, Daishi controlled Takagi the entire match, manipulating his joints with holds, and using simple moves to negate Takagi’s size advantage. After a complete humbling from Daishi, Takagi was finally put out his misery with a Jujigatame from Daishi for the win.

After night one, both blocks are still completely wide open. Hayato Saigo in Block A and HANZO in Block B have both yet to compete…Block A has a unique situation, as due to SLAYER & Yamada’s no-contest, no points were awarded to either man instead of the usual 1 for a draw! This means that Natsuo Sakoda has a big advantage with his two points. In Block B, the former Mentor and Protégés of Keoni Murata and Millennium S.K. are both tied with two points each, but the tournament is still anyone’s game.
